Wedding Season Trends Summer 2014

19 May

As summer is quickly approaching, we wanted to explore some of the trends that will be blooming this summer wedding season. A common theme is a rustic and wild feel. Traditional weddings now need a twist, by adding an original flare to each selected wedding piece.

For invites create interesting graphics and font with textured card stock.

Mix in wild flowers and set the table for a refreshing and less traditional appeal.

Choose a wedding cake flavor that matches the season– try lemon flavors for summer. Also dare to be innovative with dessert displays.

The bride’s dress, arguably the wedding center piece, can have very special detail without being extreme. Also strive for unique styling for the bride’s entire outfit. Think lace, flowers, ruffles, tousled hair and soft textures.

Hints of soft pink are making an appearance in fashion and also on bridesmaids. Various hues of the same color family give a cool feel while also complimenting one another. Also try out this color trend as a wedding attendee.

Spring Maxi Dress with Nakamol Cuff Bracelet

14 Apr

Sweet Bling has various designer selections, including Nakamol, a jewelry company based out of Chicago. What is unique about this jewelry is that each piece is handmade in Thailand. Pieces we carry range from delicate beaded necklaces to original wrap and cuff bracelets. While the wrap bracelets are a staple for the layering bracelet trend that is gaining major attention, the cuff bracelets are more of statement pieces with a wide leather band and bright beading.

Today we work with our Nakamol Turquoise Flower Cuff. This bracelet features detailed turquoise and gold beading on top of a rich brown leather cuff. This piece inspires a play on texture and color, which transcends into today’s outfit choice.

Starting with an olive green maxi dress, there are many reasons this dress speaks. Maxi dresses have the ability to be dressed up or down, making them a wardrobe must. Olive green is a color that works as a neutral in the way it flawlessly pairs with endless colors. It is however more vibrant than a white, black, or gray for variety. Olive green against this cuff’s gold and turquoise especially pops. Choosing to dress down this look, a denim jacket is key. This one in particular is partially distressed and with the maxi dress, pulls hints of the olive green. Some leather gladiator sandals or even flip-flops would complete this spring ensemble, with the option to remove the denim jacket in the sunshine. But with a cool breeze and a desire for some casual edge, I couldn’t resist throwing on my Steve Madden Troopa Boots in brown leather. Boots with a dress has a beautiful feminine appeal with an element of surprise. This distressed brown leather also works with with the rich leather of the Nakamol Cuff. The combination of leathers, denim, and a simple maxi all compliment each other with a mixture of texture and color.

With this cuff, dare to be bold with your patterns and textures. Or for a quieter look, this cuff will speak for itself against softer hues.

The Tortoise Shell Breakthrough

10 Mar

Tortoise shell is an old classic pattern that has made an appearance here and there on our sunglasses and handbag embellishments. This pattern has been hidden from the spotlight behind the raging new florals, patterns, and bright colors that have consumed attention.

Now tortoise shell has made a dazzling comeback with a very modern take on accessories. We’ve seen this look blossom through Kate Spade, Tory Burch, Michael Kors, and Ralph Lauren, among others. Tortoise shell provides a neutral color option, making it simple to throw on with a variety of outfits. But unlike a basic neutral, the classic pattern adds interest with an intriguing statement of its own. To add this trend to your collection, check out these Sweet Bling picks:
